Wow!!!! What an awesome summer! It was great to see so many of you at Camp Tanglefoot, Camp Joy Hollow, and Camp Sacajawea this summer! A special thanks to all of you who chose to attend resident camp - we look forward to seeing you again next year!
Walking around camp, it is beginning to smell like fall! The leaves have begun to change colors and fall to the ground, making a crunching noise underfoot; the squirrels are busy collecting acorns and other nuts to last through the winter; and the monarch butterflies have migrated south, to their winter home in Mexico.
Don't forget to check out all of the amazing fall programs that you can attend! There are quite a few options, so be sure to find your favorites! Here's the link to view the programs online: http://www.girlscoutsiowa.org/program-and-events.cfm.
One more thing... fall, winter, and spring are great times to check out camp with your Girl Scout Troop! Come for an overnight after the snow falls and go sledding or wait until the spring and see what camp is like when all of the plants and animals come out of hiding from the winter! Start planning ahead and talk to your leader and other girls in your troop about spending a weekend at camp!

Hi from Camp Joy Hollow!

Wow! Summer camp '09 is just around the corner now and we want to let you know about all the good things that are happening out at the most beautiful camp in western Iowa!
The oaks are leafing out, the fields are greening up, and we've got some super plans for a great summer! First of all, I am happy to report that Joy Hollow has a new director--Amanda Warner from Osage, Iowa! Amanda grew up in Girl Scouting and loved summer camp at our sister camp-Camp Tanglefoot! Now a kindergarten teacher at Sacred Heart School, Amanda will be joining us for the summer bringing lots of new ideas and fun with her!
Also coming will be super unit leader Nicole Streets from Mason City. Nicole is in her first year of college and also worked at Tanglefoot previously. Nicole says she can hardly wait to go hiking over the hills! And I'm sure she is going to want to see the bison on the Nature Conservancy land right next door!
With Amanda and Nicole leading the way, it is going to be a super summer at Joy Hollow! if you haven't signed up yet, call the Girl Scout Leadership Center (800-342-8389) or go to our website (www.girlscoutsiowa.org) right away and pick your session!
We have resident camp and troop camping opportunities this summer - check it out! We'll see you at beautiful Joy Hollow this summer!
